Sharing a single private VLAN with multiple RAC clusters

We are trying to set up 2 and 3 node RAC clusters on RHEL.  Our network infrastructure group has a policy of sharing a single VLAN with multiple RAC clusters.  We have requested they not do this but they are asking for specific reasons why Oracle is recommending it.  Do the network packets sent over the interconnect contain a unique ID to identify the cluster from other packets on the wire?
Thanks,
