Clone from standby database using ASM

Our standby database is 11GR2 and using ASM. We are trying to clone/duplicate a database from this standby and getting following error. Please note we are able to clone/duplicate database as long as source is not a standby. Has anyone tried it -

RMAN-03002: failure of Duplicate Db command at 02/23/2012 09:31:36

RMAN-05501: aborting duplication of target database

RMAN-05575: CONTROLFILE backup created before to_date('2012-02-23 03:30:00','yyyy-mm-dd hh24:mi:ss') not found in +reco_xxxxx/xxprddr/backupset/2012_02_22

We have manually taken the backup of controlfile several time so we know whatever oracle is reporting is not correct.
