Offset Tax in GL - Possible ?

Experts,

Can we use the standard offset feature of EB Tax in GL ?
We tried to use the Offset tax in a GL journal but it creates just one line similar to any other Tax codes and not the Negative line.  Also, could you point to any specific notes/ document on Offset tax for GL, if applicable.
