notification of cancellation

Hi, It's my understanding that it is a standard feature in Oracle EBS to send a notification to the supplier for a cancelled PO.  I was told that my company has truned this feature off (I am not sure why).  Therefore, when a supplier does receive the notification of cancellation of a PO, they got confused.  I wonder if anyone can advise if this isolated case was caused by the setup at the supplier level or at that particular PO.  Thanks!
