RMAN BACKUP

hello friendsI am using 10.1.0.4.0 standard edition 1,
now i want to take backup through RMAN,but while i am tring to it gives:
RMAN> BACKUP  DATABASE;

Starting backup at 02-MAR-12

is it possible to take backup through RMAN in standard edition
plz help me
