vertical lines

I am building a report (using RTF template) for PO.  I have a word table  and I want to draw vertical lines which divide that table into 6 parts. I cannot use the border shading property of the word table since I have nested tables inside this table located in merged cells and rows. I have an autoshape for vertical lines group (6 in number) places on top of this table. but since the height of the tables changes dynamically with data, when i generate the pdf from the rtf template, the autoshape size does not change, so sometimes the lines
