Can restore db version 9.2 on Linux from backups at Unix platform ?

 Hi all,
    I and some my friends have discussions about RMAN backup on another OS platforms. I want ask that, in Unix OS platform and Oracle version 9.2, I backup this database by RMAN. After that, I can use these backups to restore (create new db) on Linux platform ? Some my friends use traditional export and import (exp and imp) to dump file and they can use this dump file to import from Unix to Linux, so how about RMAN backup ??
