What are all the advantages and disadvantages of tying and not tying hostnames with the cluster?

For example a host name/nodes prdsp0423a,prdsp0424a and it's vip usually desgined as prdsp0423a-vip,prdsp0424a-vip

Instead of if i use a CNAME inmy DNS and call  PRODB1 for prdsp0423a and PRODB2 for prdsp0424a and their VIP as PRODB1-vip,PRODB2-vip and if make a cluster with hostnames PRODB1 AND PRODB2 and their corresponding VIP am i really helping to take out the dependencies on the hostname.. if i have move my cluster in the future will this be of any help?
