Do Back to Back orders handle Purchase Order Substitute at receiving

Please advice.

We have one item on the sales order line. Purchase requsition and Purchase Orders are created and approved.
The goods arrive but it is a different item. We substitute the Item at Receiving into inventory. Nothing
changes on the sales order and it is not possible to continue to pick and ship. Is this scenarion not
supported. The PO is closed for receiving.

We would like to have the sales order updated and the substitution performed on the sales order line. If this is
not possible at least we would like the order line to get the status awaiting shipping and the received items
