header shows ? rather than a dash when printed from rtf

We have applied Inventory patches to our 11.5.10 EBS and now one of our xml reports is displaying a ? rather than a - in the headings of the report.  When we open the rtf from the app, import the data and display the rpt in a pdf format, it displays correclty.  The ? is only appearing when it is run thru the app and burst out to a web server as a pdf.
