Supplier Number Lookup in PO Entry

We are converting from 8.12 to 9.0 on an Iseries. I have users in PO entry who try to lookup a supplier number based on the name. In 8.12 they could key in the name RED RIVER* and get results. In 9.0 when they key in the same keyword they get nothing. I have found if they use an underscore where the space is between names it works ie RED_RIVER*

Is this a new feature of 9.0 or is there some processing option setting that needs to be implemented?
