Shares with Windows

I have created multiple share points using SMB to allow windows users to connect.  I cannot get the control I want to limit access to the shares.  I have removed the default user (nobody) and default group as well as owner from access and given access only to a specific group from the Windows AD (given full control).  However I am not part of this group and I can still find the share and create folders in the share.  I assume that I am missing something vital on this.  Can anybody help?
