ADDM/AWR Report question

I have a question on the AWR reports for a particular database. The ADDM/ARW report shows lot of waits for direct path reads which would indicate to me that lot of sorting is taking place that is a bottleneck. However the instance memory efficiencies are nearly 100% and in-memory sorts are high. Wouldnt that be contradicting to the direct read path read waits?
