How the product validation can be achieved programmatically(using workflow/script)?

Hello All,

I am working on an SR where customer is integrating Siebel with an external system. In this scenario, the external

system is the product master. Hence all the products will be created there and pushed through to Siebel in the form

of xml.

Siebel will receive product messages and perform the requested operation (insert/update).

They have a workflow which receives messages from external system and perform upsert on Siebel. In this workflow they want to achieve product validation in order to be sure that product has been created successfully.
