Creating a weekly cheque for a biweekly employee

Is there a way to have Vertex to calculate taxes for a portion only of the standard number of hours.

e.g.

An employee is usually paid on a BW basis (80 hours standard);

We want to issue a cheque to that employee for only 40 hours however the employee will receive the remaining 40 hours in another pay period.

Given the scenario above, we would like to find a way so that Vertex calculates taxes for that portion of a biweekly using the same annualized earnings but only for half of the earnings of that pay period. Currently, since the employee is paid only 40 hours out of 80 but still a biweekly paid employee, Vertex thinks that the annualized earnings are only half of what they actually are.
