what is the impact if we change ledger name and legal entity

Hi Support,Can anyone advice me what is the impact if we change ledger name and legal entity name of existing book. R12 version. We created our ledger and legal entity name like ICL.Services now business doesn't want to see the "." in the Ledger and LE naming convention. System is allowing me to remove the dot if I removed what is the impact. Our Basic set up completed for all the sub ledger. Can any one advice me what is the impact.
