Seperate Inventory Orgs for Logical Transactions

We have recently implemented R12 and I have a question related to inventory orgs and logical transactions.
Is it common practice to create a dedicated inventory org for processing logical inv transactions?  For example, If we have an  org that represents a physical warehouse, should we be processing dorp ship sales orders through the same org or should we create a seperate org so that the logical transactions are segregated from the physical transactions?
