Scripting issue on Service Request BC

Dears,

 I have an applet with a button named "Submit", through this button once the user press on it a values is set into the fields Status and Sub Status on Service Request business component, however i need to prevent the user from selecting these values manually, i need it to be passed through the submit button only noting that i can't prevent the user from updating these fields with other values rather than the passed ones through Submit (i can't make the Status and Sub Status fields read only).
