how to get .xls format when we want output in excel

Hi Friends

When I am trying to open a report  i am getting .EXCEL format,As per my knowledge it should be in .xls format .Could any one suggest me what i can do ?

BIP Version-10.1.3.4.1

Siebel -8.1.1.4

ms office -2007
