TRTCH value in CA-1 different on 9840C cartridges

Hello,

VM:Tape uses the same CA1 catalog as MVS. However, when VM:Tape mounts a scratch tape it checks the TRTCH value in the CA1 catalog with the reported characteristics of the drive being used. If they do not match then the tape is rejected and another tape is selected. However, it appears that when any of these tapes are read on MVS then the TRTCH in the CA1 catalog for VSM & VTS tapes are being reset to E1 (ECART) and the 40Gb tapes are being reset to E2.
