OTL: Seeded Approval Workflow

Hi

     We have a need to understand the link between HXCSAW.wft and OTL Application. How the system identifies the path to find HXCSAW.wft?

      We wanted to customize the approval workflow but we also want to not to modify the standard wft. With regard to this, how would we link the modified/renamed wft to the Application?
