Accounting for Fixed Asset Items in Inventory

Our company  uses large machines that are deployed at their locations in several countries around the world.
Due to changing manufacturing requirements in different countries, they often must move the machines between countries.
In addition to that, they also have situations where machines may be stored in a warehouse for a period of time between deployments.

The company has setup distribution systems (Inventory, Procurement, Sales) so they can move the machines to where they can be used most effectively.
Before the machines are deployed to a manufacturing facility, they can be ordered in Procurement, and stored in the Inventory system.
