Subledger posting Summary to Detail

My customer was in 11i and upgraded to R12  in Jan-12.

11i  posting to GL was in detail. After upgrade that defaulted to Summary. They want to post in Detail. Their FY starts from April. They want to change posting in Detail from that from April .

Can I do that  now. Is there any harm doing that  after transactions are  already entered in the system.
