Can I change a DPIS for an asset which was depreciating earlier, but put on hold a for a6few months?

We have an asset which was placed in service '11-AUG-2011' and it depreciated until  December 2011. We put it on hold and now we want to start depreciating from April 2012. Upon changing Date Placed in service to '2-APR-2012' we get error message: APP-OFA-48392: Amortization Start date must be after the Date Placed in Service. Looked up metalink and it talks about applying patches. Is there a way out other than applying patch?
