Deleting Opportunities

Hello,  Does deleting an opportunity guarantee that the child objects will be deleted ? Or should these be deleted as a part of a separate operation?
We have the following objects associated to the opportunity:

1) Opportunity Contact
2) Opportunity Product Revenue.

 Need ideas on deleting opportunities en-mass based on a certain time frame.

What methods have admins used to achieve the same ? (i.e., Delete from a list within CRM, Delete using  web services ).
