Implication of Duplicate Asset Numbers after upgrade to R12

Hi,

We are upgrading from 11.5.10.2 to R12.1.3 eAM. In 11i, where client has defined same Asset Number with different Asset Groups (Serial uniqueness within inventory model and items).

I came to know that In R12, the Asset number must be globally unique.

After the upgrade, what will happen to the duplicate Asset numbers. It will be moved as it is? or not.

Please clarify.
