portal application is working slow

  its about portal application , as of now its working slow , and there is very minor changes occour in the application , we just want to enable the cacheing in server so every time instead of fatching new page it will show the cached page if avaiilable, ,
i want to know what will be the best practise for this , coherance clusterif or persistance store or some thing else kindly suggest
