Transferred to Projects: Not Applicable

We created a sales order with Project and Task. After pick release and ship confirm of the order the cost transactions were created in inventory with project reference. However these cost lines were not interfaced to projects. On checking the material transactions reason,reference tab it mentions that Transferred to Projects is Not Applicable. Can you please elaborate on this?
