Need help with linking scanner (to scan images) with oracle forms

Hi,

i have a project wherein i have to scan the ID of patient and link it with his id in oracle. I am using developer 2000  and oracle 8.0.6 on win 2003. i would like to know how to do the following:

1) Insert a button in the forms to invoke the scanner.

2) The image should save with Patient ID as name of the file.(automatically)

3) The image is then transferred to a remote shared folder on file server and the reference link stored in database table.

Please let me know how can i do this.

I was able to do the third step only. As we will be scanning from a common location, we want the user not to touch any button other than startscan on forms.
