CA_AP_SCHEDULE calculation changed in 8.9

We upgraded to 9.1 from 8.8 last year, and have encountered some situations where the CA_AP_SCHEDULE calculation is out of balance with the CA_DETAIL amount. Research shows that the calculation changed in 8.9 to include amounts that have already been recognized for the plan. We are considering going back to the 8.8 calculation, which did not include this piece, but would first like to understand why this was changed in 8.9.  The object where these changes were made is the CA Application Package, in the PopulateGrid method in GridRound.
