Large number of assets will require new Project IDs

We received this question thru the SR, and are sharing it here in the community for other users to benefit from.

QUESTION:


We have over 400,000 assets that will require their Project ID values to be changed. Do you have any suggestions on how we can approach this? Can we update the COST table directly or do we have to create OPEN_TRANS records to ensure that the changes are pushed to DIST_LN? Is there a Mass Change template that could faciliate the process (keep in mind that in most cases, the Project ID will be unique to the asset)?
