AMM in 11g and MTS

Dear Community,

I'm a bit confused about the use of AMM and shared server set up.

I'm about to upgrade a 10g db to 11.2.0.3 on a new server using the datapump import method. I have installed the 11g software and created the database with shared servers. I've also gone for AMM. However I'm finding some info on the web which suggests this is a bad thing.

Some sources say MTS is a thing of the past and not necessary anymore.

Another source says ‘Warnings about the MTS

As of 2009, I see very few Oracle shops (well under 5%) who continue to use the MTS (unless they have Oracle Java connections, which require MTS Shared Servers), and it is largely obsolete for today's 64-bit servers with lots of inexpensive RAM resources. ‘
