Using DQM for more than one purpose

We currently use DQM (R11) to support party search in Customers Online etc.  I am interested in using DQM for a one-off matching and deduplication job, and that would probably involve setting up new standardisation and matching rules.  However I would not want these changes to impact the current setup for search.   Is it possible to have two separate staged areas?
