Change Date Placed in Service for Reinstated Asset

I have a user that wants to change the Date Placed in Service date on an asset that has been reinstated.  The asset is being reinstated because it is being used in another location.

1) Is changing the DPIS doable?  If so, how do I do this in the Asset workbench?

2) Is this recommended?
