Context issue with DFF

We are using PTO items in sales orders.  One of the DFF fields at the line level is the custoerm item number, so we had to turn off teh copy DFF to child because the customer item was not valid for the coponent itmems, so returned an error.

When attempting to use context with DFF, we get an error attempting to enter a PTO configuration unless the copy to child is on.

Any ideas how we can turn off the copy to child, still us the context and PTO configurations?
