Message spilling in oracle streams

Linux AS4

Could anybody describe me on 'Message spilling'  in oracle streams env? Why this happen ? how to check this spilling ?

How could we prevent this?

And, what is the functioning of 'propagation'  process? is this runs on source side or at destination side ?

Please clarify my doubts.
