When to re-create/re-config physical standby instance?

Hi.  I'm slated to duplicate production database to a pre-prd environment.  Once load test, upgrade, etc. is complete we are to drop existing PRD database which has physical standby db and have replaced with pre-prd instance (i.e., RMAN duplicate or cold copy) as the application upgrade approach.  My question is, will this require a re-create/re-config of standby instance considering that this will be a new incaration of PRD?
