Accoutnig Periods of Purchasing

Hi,

There are two different forms (java based & html based) to control the accounting period of purchasing with following navigations:

1. Purchasing --> Setup --> Financials --> Accounting --> Control Purchasing Periods [HTML based form]

2. Purchasing --> Setup --> Financials --> Accounting --> Open & Close Periods [Java based form]

Once I opned a period via Java based form; but it doesn't affect accordingly. Opening the same period via HTML based form affected properly. Now I want to know the difference of functionality of these two access points of periods control. Is there need to perform the same activity on both forms? Please guide.
