Reg Scenario of contracts dates changing upon Install base status of serial changed to Installed.
Pl see the issue faced and suggest how this can be mitigated:
Scenario:when we install an equipmet at client site, IB status : installed, the standard warranty duration say 12-feb-12 to 11-feb-13 is created.
we take the item for repair from customer ( IB status : returned for repair ) and install back to customer site post repair , with IB status : installed for that serial say on 14th FEB-12.
Then the original warranty on serial changes as 14th-FEB-12 to 13th-FEB-13.
How can this be avoided?? in ideal scenario one wouldnt expect the original warranty to change dates based on installation.
Work around: 1> we created one more IB status : Repaired . upon shipment this status is reflected in IB as, the subtransaction type setup is such that it will populate the IB status as "Repaired", in this case the warranty duration is still intact until we manually change the status in IB as installed.
