Timeouts of Journal Approvals

When Journal Approvals are used in GL R12, how does the Journal Approval WF know how many days to "time out" the request for approval and reroute the WF back to the submitter with a "Notify Preparer - No Manager Response" activity?

Our journal approvals time out after 10 days if the approver does not take action.

Is the 10 day timeout a seeded value?  Where is this value set?
