Suggestions for integrating 2 instances of Siebel CRM wrt Order Management

 I am looking for thoughts, suggestions and warnings on the following scenario:
We currently have one instance of Siebel CRM (eEnergy 8.1.1.6) utilizing AIA for Comms and Asset Based Ordering.
We may have to split this into 2 separate instances (separate database also). The idea would be to set up the additional environment as a clone of the existing one (including database dump with all Accounts etc.)
Some of the Accounts would in the new solution be handled in one environment and vice versa (based on which Organization they belong to). We would need to implement some synchronization between the two as the Accounts (and some related data) should still be visible in both environments.
