Hi,

We have Oracle 11gR2 single instance database installed on RHEL 5.5 x86-64. I would like to know advantages of using ASM over filesystem. what are the requirements and challenges to install ASM with Single instance. My basic concern is performance.

Our development database is Standard edition one whereas production database is Enterprise edition. Is ASM available for both Standard edition one and Enterprise edition?  I know it is available with Enterprise edition.
