Can Mass Settlement be used to settle multiple claims created manually

As an example,  I have 10 claims ( manually created ) of $100 each totalling $1000

Can I use Mass Settlement to select these 10 claims and settle these all in one step and generate a Credit Memo( on account) for $1000

QUESTION : I am unable to see manual claims in the Open Claims Search - Is it by design ? Or can I do some setup change to see manual claims in Mass Settlement ?
