adrci auto purge trace file

I set the adrci to auto purge trace file. Today it is suppose to run. While, I went to the trace directory and see all the old trace files are still there. But the mmon process has generated a huge trace file. I also checked top. 8G RAM is down to 756M left. I assume this is all the mmon process going on.  While the CPU is 99.8% idle, because this is a development/test server. At this point, there is no error message or what so ever. I am not sure what to do to stop the auto purge since
