OEM 11g vs. OEM 12c cloud control

Just got back from Collaborate 2012 (Awesome, if you haven't been, go, Denver, CO, 2013).  Nonetheless,  we are having some issues with OEM 10gR2 and MOS suggested we upgrade.  However, comments from the community and forums (thank you) as well as at Collaborate suggest not to upgrade, but rather to just skip OEM 11g and install fresh OEM 12c Cloud Control on another server and the agents running on a different port (other than the Oracle default that the 10g agents are currently using).  Configure everything, then once satisfied, just shutdown or install another OMS 12c Cloud control)  - 2
