Local Raid 1+0
I am configuring a database server for Oracle 11g with and internal RAID 10 and considering 2 options costing almost the same:
Option 1:
6 x 300 GB 15K SAS disks RAID 10 = 900 GB
Option 2:
4 x 2 TB 7200 RPM SAS disks RAID 10 = 4 TB
Option 1 gives me less space but what I think will be twice as fast IOs.
Option 2 gives me almost 4 times more storage, but slower IOs.
Question: Is Option 1 significantly faster enough to justify the sacrifice of 3 TB space.
