Manual node eviction of RAC node

Hi all.  During a recent eviction event on a 4-node cluster, LMON was showing messages that node 2 needed to be evicted.  These messages could be seen in the alert logs of nodes 1, 3, and 4:

Evicting instance 2 from cluster

It took 20 minutes before node 2 was finally evicted from the cluster.  If I saw these messages on all three remaining nodes, could I manually kill the PMON process on node 2 (the node being evicted) without disrupting the integrity of the cluster (meaning avoiding data corruption)?
