adverse impact of increasing the parameter "process" if any

Hi,

We have a 11g R2 database (on Linux X64 and 16 GB RAM) with processes parameter set to 600
Due to business growth, the application is now configured to handle 4000 concurrent connections and
the database also need to be able to handle that volume and hence we need to increase the process parameter from 600 to 4000

Although we know that we should have adequate underlying O/S resources to be able to handle this many connections but
we wanted to know if increasing this parameter can in any way have adverse effect on the database
