Oracle Reports Integration with APEX Classic Report

We have historically used Developer Forms and Reports, but would like to start using APEX for some reporting.  BI Publisher is not an option.  We are using APEX 4.1 on an 11.2.01 database. 

 

I have created an APEX Classic Report, and for printing, would like to call an existing RDF on the application server (10g).  The parameter passed is a date.  The RDF is looking for parameter REPORT_DATE with a format of mm/dd/yyyy.

 

The APEX report page uses a Date Picker field for querying the database.  I have tried creating the URL passing this Date Picker field, and have also created another text field that contains something like

Howdy, Stranger!
