Question on Oracle database central inventory

Hi - I am installing Oracle database 11gR2 on server (UNIX) that is already hosting a 10.2 Oracle database. I will be installing the 11.2 using a Oracle Base directory and Oracle Home directory that is different from the 10.2 database. the question is, can I use a directory for the 11.2 oraInventory that is different from the directory of the 10.2 oraInventory? I am very concerned about the Oracle inventory corruption which I read about in the Oracle Database Installation guide 11g (e24336-03 page 2-14).

 I am listing the currently used directories for the 10.2 database and the planned directories for the 11.2 database below. So it is not clear to me if the following senario would be a problem with the central inventory.
